Woman arrested on suspicion of arson after Furnace Green fire

POLICE are investigating an arson in Crawley which took place in the early hours of Sunday (February 12).

At around 12.15am, a caravan outside a property in Lambourne Close, Furnace Green, was set on fire.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue attended the scene and put out the fire. No-one was injured as a result of the incident.

At 5.15am on the same day officers arrested an 18-year-old local woman on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and making a threat to damage or destroy property. She has been released on bail until March 31 pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Dave Morton of West Sussex CID said: “The fire caused serious damage to the caravan and luckily there was no-one inside at the time.

“I would like to appeal for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the fire, or anyone with information which may assist police with enquiries, to make contact.”
