A Copthorne Prep School pupil has been picked to play for England in the junior chess squad. Amardip Ahluwalia , 10, was selected for the under-11 team following trials in Liverpool.

His chess teacher, Jonathan Tuck, believes the youngster has the skill, passion and dedication to go right to the top. He said: “He has an exceptional attitude combining his chess activities with his academic work and other school commitments.” Amardip found time to share a few tips with some of his younger schoolmates.
