A marathon effort from children at Northgate Primary School saw them take to the running track to raise more than £200 for a school in Rwanda. The event was organised by the school council, a group of children who act as the voice of the school community. Every child ran two lengths of the school’s running track, with the older children helping the smaller ones to finish. Between them, they covered the same distance as a marathon. Headeacher Todd Thornback praised the achievements of his pupils and said: “This collective achievement fits in with our schools ‘working with others’ ethos; where team work is understood as a life skill.”
The money raised will go to the Groupe Scolaire Runaba school in Rwanda’s Western Province, a school with which Northgate has formed strong ties.
