The chairman of Crawley Open House has said the fundraising for this year’s Big Sleep Out had been ‘incredibly successful’.

Chris Oxlade said £4,000 had been raised so far ahead of tonight’s event (October 15).

More than 40 will sleep out at the Bandstand, Queens Square, from 7pm to 7am to raise awareness and money for the homeless shelter in Three Bridges.

Mr Oxlade said: “As always, the people of Sussex are incredibly generous coming out to help people in the community at their most vulnerable time.”

He added: “People realise that they can turn people’s lives around.”

Mr Oxlade said he was very excited to be raising money for the shelter and thanked people for their generosity.
