Morrisons is considering closing its petrol station in Broadfield, Crawley, as well as the store itself.
The supermarket announced yesterday (January 14) the branch was one of 10 loss-making stores which would close.
And it has confirmed the closure of the petrol station was also on the table.
Customer Ray Griffiths, of Selsey Road, Broadfield, questioned why the petrol station had to close.
She said: “Morrisons in the town give you 6p off of diesel. What good is that when you have to go out of town to get it?”
Cllr Brian Quinn (Lab, Broadfield North) said the loss of Morrisons would take the heart out of Broadfield Barton.
He added: “The petrol station has proved very popular and always appears busy. This will be a great loss.
“Whenever you go into Morrisons store or petrol station there is always a queue and it seem to be very busy so it is hard to believe that they are not making a profit.”
