What a lovely time I’ve had lately! Lots to tell you.
But first, I suppose I ought to introduce myself and tell you why I’m here.
My name is Carol Vincent and I was delighted and very honoured when the Crawley Observer asked me if I would like to write a regular column for them and share with you, some of my wanderings, about this town – they seem to find my little adventures amusing!
I am lucky in that my job in the mornings finishes at 8am, so, after a quick tidy up indoors, and some work on our own website, I am free to grab the camcorder and stroll about the town, looking for interesting things to film.
You’d be surprised at some of the things I see you lot getting up to! I’ve captured you dancing, singing, holding events and I must say that you, the people, are what makes this town so special.
I also have a lot of friends who are involved in the Crawley music scene, and from time to time, I will be introducing you to some of them.
I have just finished uploading quite a few films of Rowfant House (pictured), off Wallage Lane, and its appeal to save it from developers.
If you can help in any way, they would be delighted to hear from you. They can be found on Facebook – search under Rowfant House – and also look for ‘Rowfant Summer Sessions’ which is a series of musical events to be held on Sunday afternoons, where, along with many local bands and performers who have all devoted their time for free, you can enjoy a barbecue or a nice drink under a shady old tree, walk the lakes, whatever you like.
There is no entry fee. I would also love to hear from you. If you have anything that you would like me to see or anything I may like, write in and tell me about it.
Lastly, thank you Janice Mullanny, of Broadfield, for your suggestion for this column’s title. Have a very good day people!
