It has been made easier for officers to stop and search people in Bewbush after police discovered a group of residents may be planning to fight.
Crawley Police has published a notification on its Facebook page stating: “Section 60 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 authorisation has been given for Bewbush.
“What this means is that a person can be stopped and searched for offensive weapons or dangerous instruments at a lower threshold than normal.
“Information has been received that a group of residents may be looking to fight each other. Members of the public need not worry but please report anything information you may have on 101 quoting Op Ashlar (Niche reference 47150134389).”
