The Thing in the Observer Archive was in a particularly odd mood this week, handing over one file of fantastic Crawley Carnival photos but refusing to reveal the date.
At best guess, the photos were taken in the mid-80s – you’ve got to love poodle perms, they make dating a photo so much easier.
So we have robots, beer drinkers, a vampire and a young mum dressed as Pierrot as well as a young ship captain and members of Crawley Friends of the Earth.
But can anyone give a more exact date for the carnival and even put a few names to faces?
Do you have any old photos of Crawley, its people and events that you would like to see featured in Historic Crawley?
From school pictures to VIP visitors to old landmarks, we’d love to see them.
Pictures can be sent or brought in to the Observer office at 12, The Boulevard, Crawley, West Sussex RH10 1XY or emailed to Karen Dunn
