The refurbishment of K2 Crawley’s gym included a comprehensive upgrade of the cardiovascular equipment to the latest, interactive Technogym machines.

This exciting platform features swipe-screen touch technology, virtual training, access to personalised programmes and enhanced entertainment through linking to the internet, TV and games.

The gym also received extra benches in the free weight area and a brand new OMNIA Functional Training Rig.

Freedom Leisure, which runs the K2 on behalf of Crawley Borough Council, has also upgraded the centre’s disability offering with the addition of seven new pieces of easy-use inclusive fitness equipment.

Freedom Leisure Centre Manager Jonathan Hodgson said: “We are excited to be organising this free open day to launch our new gym.

“With a host of fantastic activities on offer for the whole family, this is a great opportunity for locals to come down and see the new facilities on offer right on their doorstep.”

A Technogym Master Trainer will be available from 10am-4pm offering fitness advice and demonstrating the new kit.

Visitors can book a free 30 minute Personal Training session on the day, and take part in various challenges to win a free session as well.

A timetable of functional fitness classes will place at the OMNIA Training Rig.

Kicking off the day at 9.30am there will be a ‘To the Max’ session – a low intensity, non-impact session that focuses on mobility and flexibility.#

At 10.30am, attendees will be put through their paces in a special training session, delivered by Technogym Master Trainer Alex Hatzidakis.

To finish off the morning, at 11.30am visitors can take part in a core conditioning class using a variety of kit.

Staff from Crawley Wellbeing will be on hand to offer advice on healthy eating and nutrition, as well providing information on their new weight management courses which are available for Crawley residents.

Free fruit and vegetables can be used by everyone to create their own smoothie using the centre’s smoothie bikes.
