Plans to turn grass verges into parking spaces in Crawley

Two applications to replace grassed or landscaped areas to make way for extra parking space are expected to be approved.

Crawley Borough Council’s development control committee will consider the applications for Eden Road, Gossops Green, and Scory Close, Bewbush, at a meeting on Friday (May 23).

The Eden Close application calls for a 270 square metre patch of land – nine metres by three metres – to be removed to make space for 12 cars.

The Scory Close application, if approved, would see space made for 46-56 vehicles by the removal of an area of landscaped land.

The plan also includes the widening of a footpath and the building of new pedestrian access.

The plans can be viewed via the Crawley Borough Council website Search for planning applications CR/2014/0193/RG3 (Eden Close) and CR/2014/0196/RG3 (Scory Close).

The development control meeting will start at 6.30pm.
