East Grinstead residents’ contribution to marking the Queen’s 90th birthday has not gone unnoticed.

The Queen’s gratitude for the card she received from the mayor, council and residents of East Grinstead was conveyed in a letter to town clerk Julie Holden.

The letter, from Chief Clerk to the Queen Christopher Sandamas, says:

“The Queen has asked me to convey her thanks for sending the card signed by the Town, Mayor, Council and Residents of East Grinstead, including students from local primary schools, on the occasion of Her Majesty’s ninetieth birthday.

“The Queen greatly appreciated your kind words and, in return, Her Majesty has asked me to send her warm good wishes to all concerned.”

Queen Elizabeth, who became the longest-reigning British monarch in 2015, and celebrated her 90th birthday earlier this year.
