The County Commissioner for Scouting in West Sussex,Irene Orford, presented the Queen’s Scout Award to two young men from Crawley.

Chris Pritchard and Sean Edwards achieved the highest training award in the Scout Movement. Chris, a member of Crawley Scout Network Unit, completed his Duke of Edinburgh Expedition practice in pouring rain on Dartmoor and his qualifying expedition over four days in Yorkshire. He spent a week sailing in a tall ships race and is now helping as a leader with Sir Ranolph Finnes Explorer Scout unit based in Southgate.

Sean did his Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition in the snow and his qualifying hike in the Pennines. He has travelled for international expeditions with the Explorer Scouts. He has trained as an instructor for rock climbing and shooting. He is an assistant Scout leader with 2nd Ifield Scout Group.
