Singing workshops launched at The Hawth

"SING loud and proud" is the invitation from Crawley's Hawth theatre as it launches a series of singing workshops.

Jazz Singing Workshop, Sunday May 3, 10am-1pm. Jazz guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Nicky Mitchell has performed music and comedy all over Europe and America, working alongside Taka Boom, Dana Gillespie, Lea DeLaria, Jo Brand and Jenny Eclair.

In this workshop aimed at beginners, Nicky will teach some professional secrets of how to sing and perform jazz standards.

Gospel Singing Workshop, Sunday May 10, 10am-1pm. CeCelia Wickham Anderson from a capella quintet Black Voices returns to the Hawth. The session will involve singing songs from the black experience, spirituals, gospel, African folk and civil rights songs.

No experience is necessary, just a love of singing and singing with others.

Singing Workshop, Sunday May 31, 10am-1pm. Cabaret singer-songwriter Lorraine Bowen leads you through a morning of song.

Lorraine runs several singing workshops in Brighton, including the popular Sing A Long A Sandwich at the Pavilion Theatre.

Expect warm-ups, exercises, rounds and medleys designed to "put a spring in your step and a tune in your head". Extend your singing range, boost your confidence and enjoy popular songs in a fun and relaxed environment. Beginners welcome.

Tickets for each workshop are 8.50. To book your place on any of these workshops call the Hawth Box Office on 01293 553636 or book online at www.hawth.co.uk.
