Detectives are investigating following the discovery of a skimming device on a cash machine.

A member of the public noticed the device – which captures and stores card information – had been placed in the ATM at the Tesco Express store, in Brighton Road, Horley, when they attempted to use the machine at around 5.30pm on January 8.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said it was not believed the victim lost any money. East Surrey CID urged anyone else who used the machine to check their bank statements and report any unusual transactions to their bank in the first instance.

Officers would like to trace two men of Middle Eastern appearance who were sitting in a large silver car which was parked in the parking bay outside the store when the device was discovered.

They would also like to speak to a third man who was at the cash machine and who was described as white, of large build, bald and wearing work overalls.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference number 45150002080.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
