Spider-man and other heroes are preparing to abseil down the side of a Crawley hotel to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice.
The hospice has invited people to take part in the two-day event by dressing as their favourite hero before lowering themselves down the seven-storey Sandman Signature Hotel, in Tinsley Lane South.
Among those taking part will be Conservative Parliamentary candidate Henry Smith, who will be dressed as Spider-man when he takes on the challenge on Friday April 17.
Henry said: “It is always a pleasure to assist St Catherine’s and the inspirational work they do on for the town.
“Whenever I go to the hospice I am always struck by the dedication and professionalism of staff – this abseil is the least I can do.
“My fundraising page has raised more than £260 already – I am extremely grateful to everyone who has generously donated.”
St Catherine’s are still looking for people to abseil on Saturday April 18. Registration is only £25, with a required fundraising target of £150.
Sarah Achucarro, corporate development fundraiser at the hospice, said: “We are aiming to raise a heroic £11,000 through the abseil, which will make a huge difference in helping us to reach the £5.5million we must raise every year to continue caring for local people with a terminal illness.”
