The town’s St George’s Day Cultural Parade has been cancelled.
The parade was due to be held on Sunday April 19 but the tiny group of organisers found themselves weighed down with personal issues which left them unable to handle the workload required to get the parade up and running.
Laura Moffatt, chairman of the parade society, said: “I am so sad that the parade will not go ahead this year. It was such fun and people in Crawley really seemed to enjoy the day.
“Family life must come first however.
“I really hope the challenge will be taken up by a new committee so that Crawley once again can celebrate in it’s own special way St George’s Day.”
Secretary Richard Miller added: “The committee members have worked hard to organise the parade and we recognise that many other people will share our disappointment.
“The committee is a small one with several committee members from the same family.”
The group will hold an AGM later in the year to consider the future of the parade.
Until then, Richard will act as caretaker for the society and can be contacted at crawley_st_george.yahoo.co.uk .
