Potter joined the Welsh side from Swedish side Ostersunds FK in June 2018 and guided them to a 10th-place finish.

Some Albion fans believe the jump to the Premier league after just a year in English football is too big, while manay Swansea supporters have hit out at Potter for leaving after just one season.

Here’s a selection of reaction on Twitter:

@davidweir1973: EXCELLENT FRESH YOUNG MANAGER!!! Looking forward to seeing what he brings

@DadManTalk: Welcome to the club Graham Potter! The foundations are there. Weave your magic & build, build, build! Done great as a Swan, now soar as a Seagull: Let’s do this!

@martinrlow: Welcome gaffer! You and your team have big boots to fill. I’m not at all sure about this appointment but am 100% behind you and the team. UTA

@GeddesChris: It wouldn’t be Brighton & Hove Albion FC if there wasn’t a large selection of doom and gloom merchants pontificating over the appointment of Graham Potter. The more I see of him, the more I like him! #bhafc

@1901Nick: Massive risk for me can’t imagine why we didn’t go with tried and tested in premier league I hope it works out im not convinced please prove me wrong #bhafc

@glinksted: Looking forward to seeing us play under a new manager, perhaps a new approach to games and some different tactics will transform things. Just ensuring the players believe in themselves would be a good place to start. #BHAFC
