Thieves and vandals target cars and vans in Crawley

Police have appealed for witnesses after thieves targeted vehicles from all over Crawley.

Catalytic converters were stolen from five Mercedes Sprinter vans in Stephenson Place, Three Bridges, over the weekend.

A police spokesman said four of the thefts happened in Northgate Vehicle Hire between 1pm on Friday (April 18) and 7am on Monday (April 20).

The catalytic converter from a Mercedes Sprinter van parked in Matthews, Stephenson Place, was stolen overnight on Sunday (April 19).

Thieves removed the number plates from another Sprinter in Unit 5, Cromptons Fields, Northgate.

The spokesman said the crime happened between 5pm on Thursday and 7am on Monday.

Vandals smashed a vehicle’s rear window in Padstow Walk, Bewbush at around 7.50pm on Wednesday (April 15).

Number plates were stolen from a Volkswagen Polo in Bittern Close, Ifield, between 3.15pm on Thursday and 2pm on Friday.

Thieves removed a Skoda’s front number plate between 9am and 12.40pm on Wednesday in Three Bridges Recreation Ground.
