Two arson attacks on cars in one week in Crawley

Arsonists have destroyed a car a week after another in the same street was damaged by fire.

A silver Volkswagen Passat was set alight in Friston Walk, Ifield at 1.40pm yesterday (Wednesday January 28).

A spokesman for Sussex Police said a fire damaged a black Volkswagen Golf in the same road at 6.20am last Wednesday.

The spokesman said: “Patrolling police officers spotted the silver Volkswagen Passat alight in Friston Walk, Ifield, at 11.40pm on Wednesday (January 28).

“They alerted firefighters who extinguished the blaze and established that it had been started deliberately.

“Police are also investigating a fire that damaged a black Volkswagen Golf in the same road at 6.20am on the previous Wednesday (January 21).”
