Crawley International Mela returns for its 26th annual outing at The Hawth, Crawley, bigger and better than ever.

This year’s festival motto is “The World at Your Doorstep” with a variety of different acts and activities from across the globe.

The main features of the festival will be familiar to previous attendees, with headline acts such as Team PBN and Brothers Kahn Qawwali gracing the main stage with high profile performances and many others joining them to create that unforgettable Mela atmosphere.

Carnival-style performances will take place throughout the weekend, with dancers and musicians roaming the site, bringing the music
right into the heart of the crowd.

New for this year is the “Urban Arts” area, designed to engage with teens and young adults, this area will be for helping to encourage interest in and to develop local talent.

Run by young, local artists, anything from young MCs and rappers through to rock bands will be on display with workshops running along-side the performances.

To enhance the carnival-style atmosphere at this year’s Mela, there will be a number of mini-parades throughout the event, where children and families are encouraged to participate, even getting the chance to make their own flags and banners in a carnival workshop which precedes the parade itself.

The Hawth car park will be transformed into a fun-fair with rides and attractions to suit everybody and again there will be a huge variety of impressive food and craft goods available around the site.

Crawley International Mela is a multi-faith, multi-cultural event with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where visitors can try something new and sample the variety of cultures that make up Crawley and the surrounding area.

Crawley Mela starts at noon on Saturday and Sunday August 30 and 31 and finishes at 7pm both days.
