A man has been pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a train in Crawley.
British Transport Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The Horsham Road level crossing is closed following the incident which happened at around 9.53am today (Friday September 5).
Police are diverting traffic away from the area.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “Our officers were called to Horsham Road level crossing, Crawley, shortly before 10am, on Friday, 5 September, after a report a person had been struck by a train.
“Colleagues from Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service also attended, and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are now working to identify the man and inform his family.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
