Police are appealing for information after an incident on the M23 yesterday evening (September 3) where a woman died after falling from a bridge.

Police said a woman, believed to be from Crawley, fell from a bridge onto the southbound carriageway beneath the Turners Hill Road flyover in the Maidenbower area at around 8.45pm.

They added she was hit by a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision, near junction 10a, blocked the motorway southbound for more than four hours.

Traffic on the M23 and surrounding roads was severely disrupted, and the southbound carriageway of the motorway did not re-open until 1am.

Anyone with any information is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting Operation Barnston.
