Update: Young driver suffers serious injuries in Charlwood crash

A young driver has been taken to hospital after he suffered facial and chest injuries in a car crash.

Emergency services were called after the vehicle hit a tree in Ifield Road, near Oaks Gates, Charlwood at 2.30am today (Tuesday December 29).

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance said the victim was aged in his 20s and had injuries including chest and facial injuries.

Firefighters cut him out of the car.

Paramedics took him to Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, as a priority.
