Pupils meet the cycling scientist

Waiting for Video...

Pupils were given a science lesson with a twist when cycling scientist Dr Simon Norris dropped into Gossops Green Primary School.

Dr Norris, who is a science teacher and house master at Lancing College, cycles to schools in Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey and Kent, to give lessons on the science of cycling.

He uses his bike as a travelling laboratory.

On Thursday (October 25) the scientist wowed pupils with his experiments.

He explored the properities of gases and the chemistry of carbon dioxide and used his bike to demonstrate how pumping oxygen into the wheel of his bike made the tyre hotter and showed how when carbon dioxide was released it froze the tube it was contained in.
