The leader of Crawley’s Conservatives has said his group want to be a “positive opposition” following their defeat in the local elections.

Cllr Howard Bloom, who was one of two Tory candidates to win the Pound Hill South & Worth ward was speaking after the count, which took place at K2 this morning (May 23).

Cllr Bloom siad: “We’re obviously disappointed that we no longer control the council but we do prefer the fact that the council is going to be controlled by an experienced political group who have been around for a long time and understand local government.”

A delighted Cllr Peter Lamb, leader of the Labour Group, said: “It’s really good to see the party is back in a position to make a difference in people’s lives.”
