People of all nationalities turned out to take part in Crawley’s St George’s Day parade.
While the weather couldn’t make up it’s mind, residents of all ages wore sunny smiles as they marched through town and enjoyed music, dance and the antics of Punch & Judy today (Sunday April 27).
Mayor Bob Burgess and Barbara Martin, of the Crawley Campaign Against Racism welcomed everyone.
The mayor said: “One of the beautiful things about Crawley as a town is that it welcomes everybody no matter what their race, religion or creed is.”
Greeting groups from Brazil, Portugal, Lithuania, Poland and Russia, he added:”All of these communities have been welcomed into the town by the people of Crawley and it’s that which makes Crawley such a fantastic place to be and makes me very honoured and proud to be mayor of this wonderful town.”
