Woman died after being found unresponsive in Smallfield stream

A woman died after being found unresponsive in a village stream.

Surrey Police was called to an area of land near Smallfield Road, Smallfield, at around 10.45am on Saturday (March 7).

The woman, who was in her 50s, was pronounced dead shortly after she was airlifted to St George’s Hospital in London.

A policespokesman said: “An investigation surrounding the incident was carried out by detectives from East Surrey CID and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

“A file is being prepared and will be passed to the coroner in due course.

“The Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to work with the local community following this tragic incident.”
