Police have appealed for witnesses to an assault on a woman.

The 44-year-old victim was punched and knocked to the ground in Ifield Drive, Ifield, on Wednesday (March 11), said Sussex Police.

A spokesman said she sustained cuts and bruises.

She was walking a dog between 7pm and 7.30pm when she was approached by a man known to her.

The spokesman said a man, 43, from Crawley, who was arrested on suspicion of assault, had been released on bail until April 2.

PC Jim Lee said: “We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this assault, especially an elderly couple who helped the victim.”
