Police are investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted in Crawley.

She was attacked in Broadfield during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday March 25).

Although this was clearly a traumatic event for the woman involved, it is an isolated incident and we are working hard to identify the two men

Detective Inspector Andrew Bennett

A spokesman for Sussex Police said the victim was walking along Pelham Drive at about 4.30am when she was pulled into an alleyway between Snowdrop Close and Sorrel Close by two men.

One man held her up against a wall, while the other touched her both under and over her clothing, said police.

She was then released and her attackers ran off down the alleway towards Plantain Crescent.

At least one of the men was white. Both were in their 30s and both smelt strongly of beer, cigarettes and body odour.

Both men were wearing dark coloured trousers and both were wearing Nike Airmax style trainers, one pair black and the other pair blue and white.

Detective Inspector Andrew Bennett, of Crawley CID, said: “Although this was clearly a traumatic event for the woman involved, it is an isolated incident and we are working hard to identify the two men.

“We are working hard to trace the offenders and would ask anyone who saw or heard anything unusual or noticed anyone suspicious to contact us urgently.”
