LETTER: Hope revamp is worth the cost

I read the article in the Observer about Queen’s Square transformation stating the plan includes new high quality paving, new and improved lighting, new seating and so on with a decorative water feature.

Do they really think that it will attract people back into the town centre when even more retail outlets are being built in the Manor Royal complexes?

There had better be more than coffee shops, pound shops and charity shops to get people into the town.

Still we hope they make a better job of this than they did at Broadfield Barton, which is already looking tatty with the new paving covered in chewing gum and other spillages.

Time will tell when we get the finished refurbishment but £3 million still sounds a massive amount of money - just hope it’s worth it.
