In the meantime, this year has seen lots of positive change with a new look committee. Tony Witton has been running events for the Festival for 18 years and is delighted to have been appointed to the role of Chairman, welcoming Angela Finn and Anne McQuaid onto the Committee as Secretary and schools liaison respectively.

Josh Smith and Shannon Witton have also worked with the Festival for a number of years and now join the Committee as Event Director and Deputy Event Director and, together with Niamh Slatter are responsible for planning and delivering an exiting and varied programme. Bob Burgess continues his role as liaison with Crawley Borough Council.

Sadly, long term member Peter Howell leaves the festival this year.

Peter has worked tirelessly for well over 20 years supporting the organisation to deliver a huge variety of events and activities which people across the generations in Crawley have enjoyed. Chairman Tony Witton said ‘Peter has been a dedicated and conscientious member of the committee whose perceptive sense of humour and extensive knowledge of the people of Crawley has provided great support to the Committee and to me personally.

There is no doubt that Peter’s has made a significant contribution which has made Crawley a nicer place to live for everyone’.

This year’s festival will run from 25 June to 1 April and will showcase a variety of activity in celebration of the Town’s 70th Anniversary. Anyone who would like to get involved helping out with running events or doing publicity and marketing is welcome to get in touch via our website with their ideas www.crawleyfestival.co.uk
