Have your say

I am writing to thank everyone who voted in the recent county council election, regardless of ward/division or party.

All those involved with such a campaign, are dedicated, hardworking and committed; so it all feels worthwhile when people take their responsibility seriously by finding time and energy to vote. It is such an important thing to do, so thank you.

Thank you also to the many people behind the scenes who staff the polling stations and attend the count. Again this is a time consuming and tiring thing to do, so thank you. It can’t be easy counting with people watching closely; so again thank you.

Now I really must reassure my own constituents of Three Bridges that I am still the borough councillor of the neighbourhood along with my dear husband Bob Burgess and I intend to remain so until time or circumstance prove otherwise. In other words, I am in your hands.

I am saying this because several people thought I was stepping down. No, not yet. I am pleased to say that Charles Petts was your candidate and he was successful. He joins me in saying thank you, so thank you again. Bob and I look forward to working with him. Finally congratulations to those candidates who were successful and commiserations to those who were not this time.

Thank you again - wonderful people of Crawley.

Brenda J Burgess

Crawley Borough Council (Con, Three Bridges)
