Reds bounced back from their dismal defeat on the road at Northwich by beating play-off contenders Cambridge Utd 2-1 at Broadfield Stadium.

Kevin James gave them the perfect start with a goal in the 13th minute in which he headed in a Bulman cross into the net.

However Cambridge were in no mood to lie over and they equalised in the 21st minute when a corner was headed into the area by Rob Wolleaston, leaving Lee Boylan a simple task of heading home the second goal of the match.

Bulman then combined with Jamie Cook to produce Crawley's winning goal on 57 minutes, rising to meet Cook's cross.

Bulman was enjoying a typically busy man of the match performance and nearly made sure of the points when he struck a shot against the post.

The visitors pressed hard for another equaliser and enjoyed their best chance to do so when former Canvey Island striker Lee Boylan rattled the crossbar.

However Town held out despite some pressure from the Cambridge attack which was boosted by a highly audible crowd of supporters. Nearly 400 of the 1,024 strong crowd were from Cambridge.

Steve Evans made two changes to the side, bringing in Jamie Cook and James Krause for Mustapha Carayol and Kieran Murphy.
