CRAWLEY'S Martin Burchell has qualified for the Las Vegas Desert Classic, to be screened on Sky Sports from this evening (Wednesday 2nd July).
Burchell came through a field of just over 200 players as one of eight qualifiers from the first of two qualifying competitions staged in Vegas over the past two days.

The Southgate man was in good form winning five matches that included a 5-4 victory against PDC ranked number 48 Dennis Smith.

In the deciding leg of this one Smith was sitting on a double when Burchell checked out on 146. Burchell's other wins came against Gregor Cruickshank 5-2, Danny White 5-0, Mark Carter 5-2 and Kit Young 5-0.

At the time of going to press it is unknown who Burchell will take on in the First Round on the Mandalay Bay stage but he is guaranteed playing either a top 12 player or a top North American player.

This will be Burchell's first live television appearance since he qualified for the 2007 World Championships at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet 18 months ago.

Burchell's form dipped during 2007 but lately he has played well winning one of the regular Three Bridges Open competitions and taking three Man of the Match awards in four games for Crawley in the Sussex County Super League.
