HORLEY star Dani
Christmas won medals in both the 800m and 1500m at the England Under-23 Athletics Championships in Bedford.
On Saturday Dani made a late run to win the bronze medal in 2:08.08 behind Emma Jackson (City of Stoke) and Tara Bird (Woodford Green with
Essex Ladies).

Dani made another late run in blustery conditions on Sunday in the 1500m
final, moving from fourth to second in the closing stages to collect her second medal of the weekend in 4.36.65s behind Stafford's Stacey Johnson.

After the 800m Dani said: "I am quite happy with third. I have missed
a significant amount of training due to university exams which are
now over so I can focus on my running again.

"The time isn't too great but I noticed the win a lot when I was running and I was happy that finished strongly and was able to take a medal."

Crawley AC runner Dani benefits from Dame Kelly Holmes' 'On Camp with Kelly' mentoring scheme, which is supported by Norwich Union, which won a total of 10 medals at the championships.

Dame Kelly, who was in Bedford to support the athletes she mentors, said: "Winning two medals at the championships was a great achievement by Dani. It just shows the terrific strength of talent we have."
