THREE Bridges FC manager Paul Faili believes the switch to Worthing's Woodside Road ground will help them bring the Sussex RUR Cup back to Crawley for the first time in 20 years.
Bridges were due to face fellow Sussex County League Division One side Selsey at Arundel FC in the Sussex RUR final on Wednesday night, but this was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch caused by a heavy downpour on Tuesday.

The game was rearranged for tomorrow (Saturday) and switched to Worthing FC because Arundel's pitch would take time to recover, while Worthing was available.

Faili said: "Being a Ryman League ground, it should be better conditions. It certainly doesn't hurt us having a good playing surface.

"Sussex manager Sammy Donnelly, who is a former Bridges manager, said we are the best footballing side in the county at the moment. So being able to play on the better surface should help us, as we should be able to play better football on it.

"We're pleased with the switch and glad it is now being played on a Saturday as more people will be able to come to watch the match.

"This is the biggest cup after the Sussex Senior Cup and if we win it will be the first senior cup we have won for 20 years."

Faili revealed the club is on a high after the first team finished their campaign well, amassing 60 points and the reserves won the Mid-Sussex Senior Cup.

He said: "The whole club is buzzing and if we can win this, it will be a massive boost for our young team which has an average age of only 21."

Faili expects a full squad available with the exception of Hassan Nyang, who is banned. Kick-off on Saturday is at 3pm.

Return to the Observer site over the weekend for the first match report.
