IFIELD Golf Club members Charlie O'Shea and Clive Lusted won the New Town Cup open tournament.
They emerged victorious from an entry of 60 pairs who competed over two rounds of the Ifield course, scoring a nett 64 in the morning and a nett 62 in the afternoon.
They were followed by fellow club-members Wayne Rice and his guest Stuart Charman (Reigate Heath) who achieved nett scores of 61 and 68 over the 36 holes.
Chris Gee had the biggest thrill of the day by gaining a hole-in-one on the 172-yard 17th.
Club captain Allen Johnson came close too and was just three inches away from doing the same on the sixth.
Other highlights were Mark Butler's 2 (nett 1) on the 14th, a par 4 long hole, and Rob Pierre who won three spot prizes, two nearest the pin and one for the longest drive.
Club professional Jon Earl praised Irene MacGadie for her help on the day, which included scoring, sorting out and issuing the cards.
He also thanked Terry Ryan, Vic Wells and Peter Horder who helped with starting and ball-spotting.
