Reds hammered at home
STEVE Evans locked his players in the dressing room on Thursday night after he watched his Crawley Town team get thumped 4-0 at home against Kidderminster.
Two goals from Lyesden Christie and one each from Matthew Barnes-Homer and Simon Russell made it three defeats in a row for Steve Evans' team.
An already jaded Reds team, who were playing their fourth game in nine days, were rocked by the news that Kevin James and Dominic Shimmin had left the club before the match.
And the Reds management team did not speak to members of the press after the game after witnessing a poor defensive first half display.
You could tell it wasn't going to be Crawley's night after five minutes when Jon-Paul Pittman missed an open goal from three yards out.
Defender Mark Creighton nodded the ball over his own 'keeper which allowed Pittman to run in for what seemed an easy tap in. However, Crawley's centre forward somehow fluffed his shot a yard over the bar.
Unfortunately for Pittman his miss was made worse when Kidderminster went straight down the other end with Christie executing a superb chip from 20 yards out to make it 1-0.
Before Crawley could take a breath they were 2-0 down to another Christie goal.
A long ball through evaded the Reds defence and allowed Christie to round Bayes and pass the ball into an empty net.
It was 3-0 on 21 minutes when Barnes-Homer volleyed home with ease after his first initial shot was blocked by the Reds defence.
Crawley actually had several chances to pull a goal back but good goalkeeping managed to keep them out.
Jamie Cook had a close range effort blocked by McKenzie and Thomas Pinault had two long range efforts which were not far from making it 3-1.
Dannie Bulman's low long range shot was brilliantly tipped away by McKenzie before the impressive Harriers 'keeper had to be replaced due to an injury.
However, the game was all but over when Russell finished from close range on 42 minutes after Barnes-Homer's shot was initially saved by Ashley Bayes.
Russell was given acres of space to control the ball and pick his shot.
Crawley were better in the second half but there were few chances from either team.
Kidderminster were happy to see the game out and Crawley never looked like getting back into the game.
The inquisition into a miserable night for Crawley started immediately after the match when Steve Evans locked his players in the dressing room.
Captain Tyrone Thompson returned to the starting line-up after being dropped against Aldershot on Monday and Glenn Wilson started after returning from injury.
Crystal Palace midfielder, Ryan Hall, signed on emergency loan before the deadline for loans closed at 5pm on Thursday and will go into the squad against Grays Athletic on Saturday.
The Reds now have a very small squad after the recent departures of Ollie Allen, Magno Vieira, Joseph Dutton-Black, Kevin James and Dominic Shimmin.
