He thought his side improved after the break and should have earned a draw thought their second-half performance.

Newport County had a penalty appeal turned down for a Josh Yorwerth handball and then took the lead in the 18th minute when Mickey Demetriou seized upon a pass by Josh Payne and launched a terrific shot past Glenn Morris from long-range.

Kaby Djalo in the first half and Enzio Boldewijn and James Collins at the end all went close as Reds piled on the pressure to gain an equalsier.

Drummy said: "I thought we deserved a point because we had enough chances.

"Enzio's had a one-on-one with the keeper and he makes a good save. Matt Harrold nearly pokes one in.

"The ten men v ten men flattens the game a littl bit.

"I was happy with the effort we put in the second half which was better than in the first half.

"We looked like we had downed tools and were just seeing out games and I didn't want that.

"We have to show life against every team."

Drummy will wait until he sees the video footage of the incident before comment on the double-sending off in the 51st minute of Josh Yorwerth and Newport captain Joss Labadie.

He said: "I only saw Josh reacting, I didn't see any incident and the linesman's seen something so we'll have a to see what it shows on the DVD."
