Bristol City are keeping tabs on Crawley’s Kyle McFadzean.
The Championship strugglers are thought to be weighing up a bid for the Reds’ highly-rated defender, although the Observer understands they have yet to make their offer.
McFadzean, like Hope Akpan, was the subject of an unsuccessful bid from two unnamed Championship clubs in the last week, and it’s thought Derek McInnes’ Robins have identified him as an potential addition.
City, currently 23rd in the Championship, have struggled with a number of injuries across the back four this season, and McInnes is keen to strengthen, he’s also thought to be keen on Manchester United’s Scott Wootton.
Crawley are in a position of strength if City make a bid, McFadzean signed a new three-year contract at the start of the season - after initially hinting he would see-out his deal which was due to end this summer.
Meanwhile, McFadzean returned to training this week after more than six weeks on the sidelines suffering from the after-effects of a virus.
He said: “I have to take it slowly at first because for seven weeks I haven’t been able to do anything. Fingers crossed I might be available again for the Carlisle game on January 19.”
