Crawley complete deal for Brighton’s Sparrow

Crawley Town have confirmed the much anticipated signing of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Matt Sparrow.

The 31-year-old’s contract has been cancelled at the AMEX, and Reds boss Richie Barker was poised to swoop as he bolsters his midfield options in the wake of Hope Akpan’s departure for Reading.

Sparrow has almost 400 league appearances under his belt, having played for Scunthorpe for nine years ahead of his move to Albion in 2010.

Braker said: “He is vastly experienced at League One level and a proven performer and when it became clear that he was looking to leave Brighton we were very keen to bring him to the club. I am delighted he has agreed to join us because he had other options and I think he is a player who will definitely improve what is already a good squad.”
