Crawley delay new striker’s arrival
New-signing Jimmy Spencer will delay his move to Crawley Town by a week, to save the club from potential embarrassment.
The Huddersfield striker, 21, is currently nursing an injury after ‘jarring’ his knee before a three-month loan deal was agreed last week. The deal was due to start on Friday but waiting seven days will allow the club to take his loan up until the end of the season.
Boss Richie Barker said: “We have put it back a week so that it ends on the final day of the season.
“We would not half have egg on our faces if we find he has a lot of goals and we get to the last day of the season needing something and he’s not available.”
Meanwhile, Barker also confirmed he has fielded ‘an enquiry’ about striker John Akinde, who has been told he is free to find another club.
