Crawley sign Swansea striker

Jamie Proctor

Jamie Proctor

Crawley Town have confirmed the signing of Swansea City forward Jamie Proctor on an 18-month deal.

The 20-year-old is a product of the Preston youth system, and joined Premier League Swansea in August. He has not featured for Michael Laudrup’s side, and went out on loan to Shrewsbury in October, where he made three appearances.

Proctor’s arrival is the fourth addition of the transfer window, and is the third forward to sign, after Lateef Elford Alliyu and Jimmy Spencer.

Manager Richie Barker said: “Jamie was outstanding at Preston and deserved a chance at Premier League level but unfortunately it hasn’t worked out for him at Swansea because they have a very strong squad.

“He wants to get his career kick-started and he fits the template of player I want here to progress this football club. He is talented, wants to work hard and is at an age where he can only improve.

“I have monitored Jamie throughout his career and when the opportunity came to bring him to the club I didn’t hesitate for a second. I am looking forward to working with him and I’m sure he is the type of player our supporters will enjoy watching because he works unbelievably hard and has an eye for goal.

“We have needed to strengthen in forward areas and Jamie gives us another exciting option along with Jimmy Spencer, who is joining up with us next week, and Lateef Elford-Alliyu.”
