Chelsea midfielder Conor Clifford has joined Crawley Town on loan.
On the loan deadline day, the Reds have agreed a deal which will keep Ireland under-21 midfielder Clifford at the Broadfield Stadium until January 5.
The 21-year-old has not featured at Stamford Bridge, but has previously had loan spells at Plymouth, Notts County, Yeovil and Portsmouth, where he made three appearances earlier this season, scoring once.
And Reds boss Richie Barker said Clifford had long been on Crawley’s radar.
He said: “Conor is a player our management team including (director of football) Steve Coppell and (chief scout) Martin Hinshelwood have identified for some time.
“Chelsea rate him very highly. He is a very good midfield player and he will add significantly to our options as we approach the busiest time of the season.
“A lot of clubs were keen to sign him on loan before the loan deadline and we are delighted to have him with us.”
