The 22-year-old from Ghana played under the Reds boss for the Blues under-21s and was a key player for them when they won the FA Youth Cup in 2010.

Since then he has played for Colchester and was a Brighton player in 2014-15 but did not make any appearances.

Most recently he has played for National League South club Hemel Hempstead Town.

Both he and former Liverpool and Sporting Lisbon midfielder Yalany Baio both played the full 90 minutes of Reds’ 3-1 victory against Lewes on Tuesday night.

A third trialist who came on as a substitute during Saturday’s 3-2 defeat by Millwall, central defender Dieumera Vua, has already left the club through his own decision.

Drummy said: “I was pleased with Danny. He came into training and I gave Mark Connolly some time off to be with his family as he is moving house from Kilmarnock.

“Joe McNerney has had some minutes, so Danny stepped in and played. Aerially he was very good and for his first game in a period of time I thought he coped admirably.

“Baio is neat and tidy on the ball and sometimes he drifts but most of the time he kept possession of the ball, so I was quite pleased with him as well and we will be deciding on him pretty soon.

Drummy is expecting to make his mind up about the trialists this week which could depend on the outcome of some possible loan signings.

He said: “We have got some loans in the pipeline as we speak and if the loans come off, the answer will lie there. There will be a loan player coming in pretty soon.”
