Crawley’s Stoke tie to be screened on ESPN
CRAWLEY Town’s FA Cup Fifth Round tie at home to Stoke City will be televised live on ESPN on Sunday February 19.
The Reds have been selected as one of five matches to be screened in the last-16, and have been given a 12noon kick-off at the Broadfield Stadium. Steve Evans’ troops earned a shot at Premier League Stoke after seeing off Hull City 1-0 in the Fourth Round on Saturday, and will earn a £212,000 live television fee from The FA.
If League 2 promotion chasing Crawley do pull off a shock against Tony Pulis’ Potters, they will collect an additional £180,000.
Chief executive Alan Williams said: “It is a bit of an odd time, but we are grateful that we are the television tie. It brings welcome revenue into the club.
“We fancy it. We have only lost three times at home in the last two years. Stoke play a similar style of football to us and we will fancy our chances and Steve (Evans) will prepare the side as he always does.”
