Listen - Barker: “Crawley midfield ran the game”.

Waiting for Video...

Richie Barker saluted his midfield duo of Hope Akpan and Josh Simpson after today’s 2-1 win at Portsmouth.

Goals from Mat Sadler, direct from a free kick out wide, and Billy Clarke, sealed the points as the Reds came from behind to go eighth in the League one table.

Barker said: “To come here on Boxing Day and beat Portsmouth shows how far we have come.

“I thought some of our football in difficult conditions was excellent, particularly the two midfielders, playing against midfielders who have played at a much higher level than them and they ran the match.

“I thought we deserved it. We had to withstand some pressure pressure but you would expect that, they have good players here desipte the problems.”

“It’s so tight, if you can stay in that to half you are never more than a win or two from the play-offs.”
