Josh Simpson has not broken his ankle, as was feared after he hobbled off during Crawley Town’s 1-1 draw at home to Doncaster last night.
Reds captain Simpson had scored the opening goal before he was forced out of the action following a challenge from James Harper. Crawley officials had initially feared a broken bone, but an x-ray this morning revealed no break. He will now undergo an MRI scan to check for ligament damange.
Manager Richie Barker said: “It’s a relief that there is no break, which is what we all feared on Monday night.
“I have spoken to him today and he feels a lot better and can put some weight on the ankle which is good news. We will see what the scan says on Thursday but hopefully he won’t be out for too long. We will know more then.”
