Bridges champions of Sussex
Three Bridges Cricket Club Sussex indoor league champions
THREE Bridges Cricket Club have won their first Sussex indoor championships for 19 years when they beat Portslade on their own turf.
Youngster Ollie Bladford took three superb catches and spinner Jigar Parekh hit the winning runs as Bridges overtook their target in the 11th over of a 12-over per side final held at Portslade Sports Centre.
It was a terrific achievement for the club whose first team were relegated from the Sussex Premier Division.
They have been concentrating on youth development and this showed as four of the six members of the winning squad were aged 18 or under.
In their opening group game, Bridges produced a good bowling and fielding display to restrict East Grinstead to 103 after amassing 122.
They then racked up an himpressive 152 in their second game against Hailsham who they restricted to just 94 thanks to some great bowling from skipper Mark Church.
The next round will be held on Sunday, February 19 at Portsladewhen they face Surrey champions Guildford, starting at 12noon.
BRIDGES: Mark Church (capt), Jigar Parekh, Bradley Gayler, Ollie Blandford, Connor Golding, Fraser Webb
