Sussex League Division 3
Crawley Eagles made it two wins in two games as they won by four wickets away at Burgess Hill.
Winning the toss Eagles captain Imran asked the hosts to bat first.
The home side batters stuck in and worked hard to bat out their full quota of overs.
In the end a total of 168 all out in 50 overs was a par score Jack Simpson top scored with 66, Imran Mehboob once again produced a typical spell as he only went for 12 runs of his eight overs to follow up last week’s 3-26 off 16 overs. This means in the last two games Imran has bowled 24 overs for only 38 runs.
But this week it was great to see a new strike bowler bagging his first 5fer, Rilwan Mohammed 5-31 blew away the lower order to gain full bowling points.
A solid 56 by vice captain Amaar Suddazahai and a quick fire 26 from Tayyab Mahmood playing his first game helped the visitors get to 169-7.
George Willett had the great figures of 3-27 of his 8 overs.
Eagles captain Imran said: “It was great to see the team fight all the way and not give up. I am looking forward to carrying on this momentum into next week and beyond.”
Eagles travel to Goring 1st XI on Saturday.
Sussex 2nd XI
Division 3 East
Crawley Eagles 2nd XI suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of a strong Burgess Hill 2nd XI at Cherry Lane.
Asking the visitors to bat first the Burgess Hill batsmen compiled total of 154.
Salim Malik showed great control in his bowling with figures of 7 overs 2-14.
But when Eagles batted it was all over as Hugh Warmisham blasted his way to 8-28 to claima 99-run victory as the home side finished 55 all out in fewer than 17 overs.
West Sussex Invitation League Division 2
Crawley Eagles 3rd XI lost by 6 wickets at Crawley Down, batting first Eagles were blown away for 92 all out with captain Yasser Ilyas top scoring with 45.
Steve Morley 3-15 and Stuart Simmonds 3-22 did the damage. The hosts took 25 overs to get to their target for the loss of four wickets Adam O’Callaghan hitting a quick 28.
West Sussex Invitation League Division 4
Crawley Eagles 4th XI clinched a three-wicket win against Findon 3rd XI.
After winning the toss, Eagles inserted the visitors and showed some good bowling to skittle out the hard-hitting batting line up for 165 with Shiyas Bazeer with 3-6 of his three overs was supported well by Rifky 3-41. Eagles manage to overhaul the total for the loss of seven wickets with Irfan Uwais topscoring with 76.
